Screed systems

The screed is used to level the unevenness of the substrate, in order to obtain a firm, flat and quality floor layer.

Screed or glaze is used to level unevenness on the substrate (usually concrete), to obtain a solid, flat and quality layer of floor suitable for walking or laying tiles and other floor coverings.

All floors must meet certain criteria in terms of resistance to mechanical damage, strength, hardness and thermal insulation, and in the area of residential and office spaces screed also serves as an improvement of sound insulation.

Cement screed is durable and waterproof, if it is installed correctly. It must not be processed at air temperatures below + 5 ° C, and large fluctuations in temperature and drafts increase the risk of cracking. Drying time is usually 28 days, and in the case of thicknesses greater than 5cm, the drying time increases. There are also quick-setting glazes, where coating is possible after 36 hours. Manufacturers LB Knauf, Samoborka, Rofix, Baumit and Mapei have different types of screeds in their program, depending on their purpose.

Self-leveling or leveling compounds are used for leveling concrete substrates and cement screeds or as a final layer before laying floor coverings (tiles, parquet, PVC or textile coverings). They can be for outdoor or indoor use in residential buildings, basements, terraces and garages, and many other areas. Manufacturers: Baumit, LB Knauf te Rofix.
